Cannon Ball is a census-designated place (CDP) on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation and in Sioux County, North Dakota, United States. It is located in the northeastern part of Sioux County, having developed at the confluence of the Cannonball River and Lake Oahe of the Missouri River. The population was 875 at the 2010 census. [3]
Regent was founded in 1910 when the railroad was extended to that point. [5] The city was so named with the aim of promoting its central location in order to attract the county seat. In a 1916 game with the Colored Gophers, Marshall brought in "Cannonball Jackson" a pitcher acquired from J. L. Wilkinson's All Nations team. [8] After World War I, Marshall played for the Mott and Regent team in North Dakota in 1919, and in 1921 he played for a team in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

Cannonball Musical Instruments first began as a saxophone manufacturer. Cannonball saxophones in current production are student Alcazar, intermediate Sceptyr, and professional Big Bell Stone Series, Vintage Series, and Key Artist Series models, [4] are made in a variety of finishes including The Brute (aged brass), Raven (iced black), Mad Meg (bare brass), and Hotspur (iced black and iced silver).
In 2018 the Cannon Ball elementary building had a lack of insulation and bug infestation issues. That year the school district received a $5 million federal grant to rebuild the school. [6] In 2019 the State Auditor of North Dakota took over an audit that a private company was doing of the district to check if embezzlement has occurred. [7]
