The college moved to the then-new Garden City High School building in 1954, and first occupied a campus of its own in 1958 on property where Buffalo Jones Elementary School is located. The first effort to establish GCCC as an entity separate from the Garden City public school system was launched in 1958.

The university was established by a government Act in 2003 (amendment 2008) as a private and not-for-profit higher education institution in Garden City, Khartoum, Sudan. [ citation needed ] It was approved as a university by the Ministry Of Higher Education.

The Garden City University College is one of the private universities in Ghana. It is located at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. It was established in 2001 [1] [2] as the College of Information Technology and Management Systems. The college was converted into the Garden City University College in 2004. [2]
