Words with QU where the U represents a full vowel[edit] Normally in English the QU combination is pronounced /kw/, or sometimes /k/, and is followed by a vowel. Maybe this article should include a sentence or two about words where a U after a Q represents a full vowel, such as qū, qurūsh, Quran, or whatever the various dictionaries may contain.
This was raised on AfD (VfD as it then was). The consensus was to keep it here, since it contains more than a list of definitions, and is about the words themselves more than the things they represent. Propose that the title is changed to "List of English words containing Q not followed by U" (in other words, lose the "a"s). Matt 01:06, 31 December 2005 (UTC). I'm not sure. It might be confusing, as it's not necessarily obvious that it's the letter Q being discussed. I know the current title is a bit long but that's better than not long ...
But not after c. Where ever there is a Q there is a U too; Most frequently u follows q. e.g.: Que, queen, question, quack, quark, quartz, quarry, quit, Pique, torque, macaque, exchequer.
