I just had a reclast infusion last week and have had serious side effects. I had the worst flue like aching for 5 days then my lefty arm became full of inflammation in the wrist, elbow and shoulder which caused extreme pain and I lost the ability to straighten my elbow. Ultrasound showed huge amounts of fluid throughout the arm.
That was the full extent of my side effects, which were much less intense than my Pfizer Covid vaccine side effects. I'm writing this because I have a sense that many women with minimal side effects don't bother to post on this site and I want others to know that the Reclast infusion isn't always accompanied by terrible side effects.
I have had 2 infusions. My first infusion I felt flu like symptoms for 3 days after with a headache. My pharmacist advised me to drink Gatorade the day before 2 btls and 1 the morning of plus take tylenol the night prior and morning of. My 2nd infusion I had no side effects. I will be having my 3rd infusion this May.
G.I. issues are listed as a possible side effect of the drug, and probably if you already have them the drug worsens them immensely. If you look up Reclast on the Mayo Clinic site it lists many, many possible side effects including g.i. issues. So, it is a myth that the infusion will bypass stomach issues.
Does anyone have a solution to combat Reclast side effects. I had the infusion a year and a half ago and the side effects started shortly after I had the infusion. I still have weak legs, swelling in feet, pain in bones, dizziness (serious dizziness), cold sweats, tired all the time and nervous twitching in bones. Any suggestions?
i finished a really difficult side effects year of Evenity and started Reclast. i asked for slow infusion of a half dose, with the intent of doing it twice yearly instead of yearly. i had saline hydration during, used tylenol and zyrtec that day. i am at a little over 2 months since the infusion, and definitely still feel like garbage.
I had one 5 mg infusion a year and a half ago and am still suffering from the side effects. Yes, it lasts at least 5 years, per the documentation. It's not worth it. I took Evenity for a year and I was tired all the time. Not sure if that was from the Evenity. Some side effects are ambiguous. But not the Reclast. Those side effects were obvious.
I've moved your message to this existing discussion about Reclast infusions, side effects and recovery time. I did this so you can connect with other members who have experience with Reclast like @becsbuddy @pink0509 @jmanj @bonnieh218 @sue225 and others. Jodie, you mentioned that you had been taken a monthly medication without side effects.
Had my 3rd Reclast infusion in August. 2024. Never had side effects other than minor ache/headache within 3-5 days after. Pls note: I was given this dosage 6 mos early because I fell on ice in January and broke my wrist, so was told I should have a booster. Three weeks later, I started experiencing bone/joint pain - debilitating joint pain.
