Dallas Baptist University (DBU) is a private Christian university in Dallas, Texas. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Founded in 1898 as Decatur Baptist College , Dallas Baptist University currently operates campuses in Dallas, Plano , and Hurst .
The church expanded to multiple buildings covering five blocks in downtown Dallas, eventually becoming the largest Southern Baptist church in the world. The popular evangelist Billy Graham joined the church in 1953, became a close friend of the Criswell family, and remained a member of the Dallas congregation for 55 years.
In 1987, Grant purchased 28 acres (11 hectares) in the southwest section of Dallas (near Dallas Baptist University) and built the "Eagle's Nest Family Church", and continued pastoring the 5000-seat church until 1996. [1] Grant was convicted in 1996 of tax evasion, [2] and since his release from prison he has restarted his ministry. [3]
