The Apollo Theatre opened January 11, 1922, in the North State Street Historic District of Belvidere. In 1975, the theater suffered a fire, forcing it to close. Maples moved with her husband to Mims, just up Highway 1 from Cape Canaveral, in 1965. They set up a business, Maples Flooring and Supply, selling carpeting to a wave of new arrivals pouring into the area, lured by jobs created by the Apollo moon program.
