The two highways overlap until separating in the St. Louis area in Ladue, where US 61 meets I-64 and US 40. While in the St. Louis area, US 61 is on Lindbergh Boulevard, which goes by the name of Kirkwood Road while in that municipality. After meeting I-64 and US 40, US 61 turns west with them and its overlap with the Avenue of the Saints begins.
