George Gaze Pace, CVO (31 December 1915 – 23 August 1975) was an English architect who specialised in ecclesiastical works. He was trained in London, and served in the army, before being appointed as surveyor to a number of cathedrals.

The second plan submitted for the design of the chapel was approved. It was proposed by architect George Pace and involved the construction of a chantry chapel between the Rutland Chapel and the north choir of St George's Chapel. [3] Pace's design is 18 feet (5.5 m) in height, 10 feet (3.0 m) in width and 14 feet (4.3 m) in depth. [3]
Towards the end of 1963, it was found that the bells of the cathedral, which were hung in the central tower, needed an overhaul, and ringing was suspended. In 1965, George Pace, the architect to York Minster, was commissioned to prepare a report. He recommended that the bells be recast and hung in a new bell frame.
The remnants of the bombed church were used as the basis for a new church designed by George Pace and constructed 1958–1963. This new building is of a Modernist design but is also sympathetic to the Gothic spire and porch.
