The first thing place to check if you're missing mail is to check your other folders. If you find missing messages in these folders it's likely they were either mistakenly marked as spam or filtered. Should this happen, check your filters and spam settings to make sure they're what you expect them to be. Check your account email client
Click the Account Settings icon. Click Manage Profiles. Click the Email Accounts button. Look for the email account you want to update and double-click on it. Remove and re-enter your AOL Mail password. (Note: If you use an app password for Outlook, you may need to create a new app password. See the info below.) Check the status.
Find your application's "Email Accounts" or "Account Settings" section, select your AOL Mail account, then update to your new password. If you've activated 2-step verification for your AOL account, you'll need to generate and use an "app password" to access AOL Mail from these apps.
If you're using an older or outdated browser, such as Internet Explorer, you may need to access AOL Mail from a different browser. If you don't have an updated or supported browser installed on your computer, update your existing browser or download a new one.

Deleting email from the Trash removes it from your account. Apps that use POP. Desktop apps, like Outlook, Thunderbird, and Mac Mail, can access AOL Mail using POP. Copies of your email download to the app, so actions in the app won't affect your account. One POP setting, however, will delete email from your account when it's downloaded.
