William Imon Norwood Jr., also Bill Norwood (April 21, 1941 – December 13, 2020), was an American pediatric cardiac surgeon and physician. He was known for the Norwood procedure, a pioneering cardiac operation named after him for children born with Hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Diethrich was born in Hillsdale, Michigan in 1935. He obtained his undergraduate (1956) and medical (1960) degrees from the University of Michigan. [2] He then completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.
