After more than two decades at the top, Warner Bros. shut down the original Termite Terrace studio in 1963 and DePatie-Freleng Enterprises assumed production of the shorts, licensed by Warner Bros. Most of the Looney Tune characters were retired from theaters, including Warner's biggest star, Bugs Bunny.
