[1] It was designated as a 'Spine Specialized Oriental Medical Hospital' by the Korea Ministry of Health [2] and also designated as a 'Health Tour' hospital for foreigners by the Korean Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI).
The hospital was inaugurated on June 23, 1989, originally named Seoul Jungang (Central) Hospital, and later renamed Asan Medical Center on April 27, 2002. With a capacity of 2,732 licensed beds and a total floor area of approximately 280,000 square meters (85,000 pyeong), it stands as the largest hospital in Korea.
