Dunlap Lake is a 138-acre private lake east of downtown Edwardsville in Madison County, Illinois, United States, which was created by Orie T. Dunlap in the 1930s. The community is a private-residential district where residents can swim, fish and boat.
Edwardsville is a part of Southern Illinois and the Metro East region within Greater St. Louis, located 18 miles (29 km) northeast of downtown St. Louis. In 1964, the Edwardsville to Alton segment was changed to Illinois Route 143, and Illinois 159 was run north through Edwardsville to Royal Lakes, replacing Illinois Route 112. This created an unusual 3 way multiplex in downtown Edwardsville where you went north on 157, south on 159, and east on 143 for 2 blocks.
In the 1990s, the chain introduced a third brand, Thrifty Inn. [7] The Drury Inn & Suites in Valdosta, Georgia. Co-founder Charles Drury died on September 7, 2020, in St. Louis; his death was acknowledged by Governor of Missouri Mike Parson. A post office called Normandy was established in 1902, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1978. [2] The community was named for the Norman family, the original owners of the town site.
