The Polytechnic University of Tirana is the oldest and the second largest university in Albania, after the University of Tirana. [citation needed] It was founded in 1951 and now has approximately 10,000 students, who come from Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.
Since 2018, UNYT is under the ownership of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, one of the largest educational organizations in the world with 427 educational institutions in 67 countries. [1] Since December 2020, University of New York Tirana has been awarded 6 - years Institutional Accreditation [ 2 ] which is the maximum evaluation in HEI in Albania.
The university is the largest and highest ranking university in Albania. [5] It includes eight colleges, 50 academic departments, and 41 study programs or majors. Most programs are offered in Tirana; a few smaller affiliated campuses are located in other Albanian cities, including Saranda in the southern part of the country and Kukës in the north.
The university is a signatory of Magna Charta Universitatum [7] and a member of the UNESCO based worldwide association of International Association of Universities. [ 8 ] Epoka University attracts students from Albania, Egypt, Turkey, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Macedonia, Italy, Norway, USA, Jordan and all around the world.
The Canadian Institute of Technology (CIT; Albanian: Instituti Kanadez i Teknologjisë) is a for-profit university college located in Tirana, Albania. [4] [5] The university college is known to offer Bachelor and Master programs, entirely in English, divided into two faculties, the two faculties being the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Economy. Luarasi University, founded in 2003 in Tirana, Albania, initially focused on law and public administration studies. Over time, it expanded its programs to include economics, information technology and innovation, and medical sciences, evolving into one of Albania's most respected institutions for higher education.
On December 15, 2011, to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Academy of Arts, the Albanian Post issued a new postal stamp [4] dedicated to this event. The stamp was introduced during a ceremony at the Main Hall of the University of Arts by the Head of the Philately Department of the Albanian Posts and the Rector Prof. Petrit Malaj.
