Sixth Street is a historic street and entertainment district in Austin, Texas, located within the city's urban core in downtown Austin. [2] Sixth Street was formerly named Pecan Street under Austin's older naming convention, which had east–west streets named after trees and north–south streets named after Texas rivers (the latter convention remains in place).
The Saxon Pub was founded by Joe Ables and Craig Hillis in 1990. Prior to opening, the location on Lamar Boulevard in had been the location of several clubs. Raul's was a live music nightclub at 2610 Guadalupe Street in Austin, Texas in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which started off as a Chicano music venue, but then specialized in punk rock music. The location is near the University of Texas campus.
