The United States District Court for the District of Illinois was established by a statute passed by the United States Congress on March 3, 1819, 3 Stat. 502. [4] [5] The act established a single office for a judge to preside over the court.
John C. Milhiser is an American attorney who serves as the Sangamon State's Attorney. He served as the United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois from 2018 to 2021. [2] Prior to becoming a U.S. Attorney, Milhiser was previously the Sangamon County State's Attorney from 2010 to 2018.

[1] [2] He graduated from Yale University in 1962, the University of Chicago Law School in 1966. Lewis earned Master of Laws degree from Duke University School of Law in 1975. [3]
