The East Walker River rises from snow melt in the Sierra Nevada of eastern California north of Mono Lake and near the northeast boundary of Yosemite National Park.The mainstem begins in the south end of the Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California, and flows from there north past Bridgeport, where it is impounded to form the Bridgeport Reservoir.
Walker River State Recreation Area is a 12,300-acre (5,000 ha) state park unit of Nevada along the East Walker River near the city of Yerington. The park is one of Nevada's largest and newest state park units, dedicated by Governor Brian Sandoval on September 18, 2018. [2] The park is composed of four units consisting of historical ranch land.
Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, [3] along the East Walker River. The lake has a storage capacity of 42,455 acre-feet (52,367,000 m 3 ) [ 4 ] and is supplying agricultural irrigation water for use in Nevada's Walker River Irrigation District.
The Walker River is a river in west-central Nevada in the United States, approximately 62 miles (100 km) long. Fed principally by snowmelt from the Sierra Nevada of California, it drains an arid portion of the Great Basin southeast of Reno and flows into the endorheic basin of Walker Lake.
Bridgeport Reservoir, Twin Lakes, [7] Virginia Lakes, Green Creek, the East Walker River, the West Walker River and numerous small tributaries and backcountry lakes offer rainbow, brown and cutthroat trout fishing. The Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Program sponsors fishing tournaments twice per season.

East Walker River The Bridgeport Valley is a large, fertile mountain basin between the eastern Sierra Nevada and the Bodie Hills of the U.S. state of California . The valley is 10 miles (16 km) long and 7.5 miles (12.1 km) wide, and is used primarily for ranching.
The headwaters of the East Walker River begin in the Hoover Wilderness. It comprises 48,601 acres (197 km 2 ). Many trails lead into it from the east, from Walker Meadow (off the Sonora Pass road), Buckeye Creek, Green Lakes, Virginia Lakes , Lundy Lake, and Saddlebag Lake (off the Tioga Pass road).
