Bohol Island State University (Filipino: Pamantasang Pampamahalaan ng Isla ng Bohol ᜉᜋᜈ᜔ᜆᜐᜅ᜔ ᜉᜋ᜔ᜉᜋᜑᜎᜀᜈ᜔ ᜅ᜔ ᜊᜓᜑᜓᜎ᜔; BISU) [1] is a public institution of higher learning in Bohol, Philippines. It was formerly called the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT).
On June 19, 1965, Republic Act 4572 was enacted by Congress of the Philippines which converted the school further into a chartered college, renaming it the Leyte Institute of Technology. [4] It took effect beginning school year 1965-66. Starting in 1999, the institute has grown to establish a satellite campus in Ormoc City.
In July 2020, the West Visayas State University College of Law was established, the first public law school in Western Visayas. The following year, it opened its College of Dentistry, the second public university (after UP Manila), and the first public college outside of Manila, to offer a program in dentistry.
