Ichigo Kurosaki (黒崎 一護, Kurosaki Ichigo) is a fictional character in the Bleach manga series and its adaptations created by author Tite Kubo.He is the main protagonist of the series, who receives Soul Reaper powers after meeting Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper assigned to patrol around the fictional city of Karakura Town.

Old Man Zangetsu sheds a tear as he says farewell and relinquishes his hold on Ichigo's powers, allowing him to finally access his true Zanpakutō, the dual bladed True Zangetsu. Sensing both "White" and Old Man Zangetsu in the long and short blades respectively, Ichigo thanks Zangetsu and says that he is himself.
Once Zangetsu manifests, he immediately attacks Ichigo. Meanwhile, Mayuri Kurotsuchi begins experimenting on himself in order to research the manifestation of the zanpakutō . After Ichigo is seemingly defeated by Zangetsu, Ichigo transforms into his inner hollow form and strikes back, putting Zangetsu on the defensive.
The series follows the adventures of high school student Ichigo Kurosaki who can see spirits and becomes a Soul Reaper, after assuming the duties of Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki. Tensa Zangetsu shows Ichigo his inner hollow, revealing to him it was the form he defeated Ulquiorra in. Zangetsu then joins with the inner hollow, revealing that they were one to begin with, and resumes his battle with Ichigo.
While fighting Urahara, Ichigo learns that Zangetsu is the name of his zanpakutō. Upon learning the name, the sword transforms into its more powerful shikai form as Ichigo unleashes an energy blast which knocks off Urahara's hat, completing the third stage in his training.
