Bahrain International Airport (IATA: BAH, ICAO: OBBI) (Arabic: مطار البحرين الدولي, romanized: Maṭār al-Baḥrayn al-dwalī) is the international airport of Bahrain. Located on Muharraq Island , adjacent to the capital Manama and the city of Muharraq , it serves as the hub for the national carrier Gulf Air .

Muharraq Airfield is a military base located adjacent to Bahrain International Airport. [1] It is run by the United States Navy (USN) and usually ships supplies in and out of the airport with many of them from other countries as well.
Bahrain Airport Company was established in 2008, the semi-governmental company is responsible for developing BIA and enhancing its capacity and infrastructure to accommodate future growth. [4] Under the company, the airport was awarded the Best Middle East Airport award at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in 2010.
The investigation into both accidents recommended that consideration be given to equipping Bahrain Airport with radio landing aids and with suitable runway approach lights. Bahrain Air started operations on 1 February 2008 as a low-cost airline but changed its operating model to full service by early 2010. The airline was headed in the U.A.E by its Country Manager, Rashid Al Moosa and by its UAE-Sales & Marketing Nicky Bijlaney [ 6 ] The inaugural flight occurred on 3 February 2008, from Bahrain to Dubai.
