The Graduation Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually during the first week of August at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California.The race is restricted to two-year-old horses bred in the State of California.
Del Mar added two new juvenile turf stakes to its schedule in conjunction with the Oak Tree Racing Association during their 2012 meeting. The Oak Tree Racing Association had been idle since 2010. The races, meant as stepping stones toward the two Breeders’ Cup's juvenile grass offerings, also expand the track's emphasis on its 2-year-old program.
It was first run at Del Mar in 2014 as the Desi Arnaz Stakes. Always a race on dirt for two-year-old fillies , the ungraded event is set for the fall of each year. It is currently contested over a distance of six and one-half furlongs and currently offers a purse of $100,000.
