The James E. Kirwan House and Store is a living museum located south of the village of Chester on Kent Island in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States.It served as a general store, lumber mill, cooper's mill, and blacksmith shop between 1889 and 1955 [1] and facilitated local trade as a port on Kirwan Creek.
Kent Island is the largest island in the Chesapeake Bay and a historic place in Maryland.To the east, a narrow channel known as the Kent Narrows barely separates the island from the Delmarva Peninsula, and on the other side, the island is separated from Sandy Point, an area near Annapolis, by roughly four miles (6.4 km) of water.
Chester is located at (38.971907, −76.288045 [ 2 ] According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 7.0 square miles (18 km 2 ), of which 5.3 square miles (14 km 2 ) is land and 1.8 square miles (4.7 km 2 ) (24.89%) is water.
Kent County has a 209-mile shoreline, including Eastern Neck Island. The Chesapeake Bay is on the west, Sassafras River on the north, and the Chester River on the south. The Kent Narrows, also known as Kent Island Narrows and to local residents simply as the Narrows, is a waterway that connects the Chester River with the Eastern Bay and also separates Kent Island from the Delmarva Peninsula. It runs through the community of Kent Narrows, Maryland. The Kent Narrows was originally shallow and surrounded by marsh.

Love Point is the name for the northernmost tip of Kent Island, Maryland, United States and as such, marks the southern point of the mouth of the Chester River.It has served as a major ferry terminal, the western terminus of the Queen Anne's Railroad, and the nominal western terminus of Maryland Route 18 (which is aligned in a north–south direction near Love Point).
