Mount Solon is an unincorporated community in Augusta County, Virginia, United States, 22 miles (35 km) southwest of Harrisonburg and 20 miles (32 km) north of Staunton. It is part of the Staunton– Waynesboro Micropolitan Statistical Area .

Solon was first settled in 1794. The town was created from part of the town of Homer in 1798, before the formation of Cortland County. Solon lost territory to the towns of Truxton (1811) and Taylor (1849). The population of the town reached a peak of 2,311 in 1840. By 1865, the population had dropped to 995.

Mount Solomons was named after Theodore Solomons , an explorer of the Sierra Nevada mountains, who mapped and established what is now the northern half of John Muir Trail .
