Sandra Day O’Connor High School (SDOHS), part of the Deer Valley Unified School District, is a public high school located just west of I-17 and north of Happy Valley Road in Phoenix, Arizona. The school had a 97.1% graduation rate in 2018. [4] SDOHS was first awarded the A+ School of Excellence distinction in 2018 and it was renewed in 2023. [5]
Opened in 1998, O'Connor High School followed the tradition of all the Northside high schools in being named after a Supreme Court justice, Sandra Day O'Connor, who served from 1981 to 2006, and was the first female justice on United States Supreme Court. The school colors are navy blue, white, and old gold, and the mascot is the Panther.
On April 5, 2006, Arizona State University renamed its law school the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. [8] O'Connor's house was moved from Paradise Valley, Ariz., to Tempe's Papago Park. In 2009, Justice O'Connor's house was relocated from its original site on Denton Lane in Paradise Valley to 1230 North College Avenue in Tempe Papago Park.
