Nicola Sirkis has two brothers, his fraternal twin Stéphane (22 June 1959 – 27 February 1999) and elder brother Christophe (born 6 April 1957). Stéphane joined Indochine in 1982, playing synthesizers and guitar, and remained with the band until his death from hepatitis C after years of struggling with drug addiction.
Indochine (French for Indochina) was formed in 1981 by two Frenchmen in their early twenties, Nicola Sirkis and Dominique Nicolas, in Paris.
