St. Michael's School, established in 1874 by the Community of St Michael and All Angels, is a public school with a boarding option for girls located in Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. It is the third oldest girls school in South Africa. [1]: 37 Its brother school is St. Andrew's School, which is located nearby in the suburb of Westdene.
Three novices and three lay helpers under Emma, a Mother Superior, traveled from England to Bloemfontein via Port Elizabeth, arriving towards the end of April 1874. They immediately opened a boarding school, St Michael's, and a day school. [2] St Michael's School exists to this day as one of the leading schools in South Africa.

Its sister school is St. Michael's School, a girls' school which is located nearby in Bloemfontein. The school is the second oldest in Bloemfontein, behind Grey College and is amongst the oldest in the country. The school truly boasts an 'all-round education' for boys with a 100% pass rate and a 95% Bachelor's Pass in the 2024 Matric exams.

Two years later the need for Sisters for nursing, teaching and visiting was recognised and the Community of St Michael and All Angels was founded in Bloemfontein. Furthermore, the Transvaal became no longer the responsibility of Bloemfontein when the Anglican Diocese of Pretoria was formed in 1878.
