The jurisdiction left to the court at became New Castle County, and the county seat remained at New Castle until 1881 when it was moved to Wilmington. In 1680, Whorekill District was divided into Deale County and St. Jones County. [6] After this division, Lewes became the county seat of Deale, which was later renamed Sussex County. [6]
Robinson became Treasurer of Sussex County in 1823, and was elected as a commissioner on the county Levy Court in 1831 and 1832. He served two years representing Delaware in the U.S. House of Representatives. Elected as a member of the Democratic Party, he served from March 4, 1839, until March 3, 1841.

Sussex County Courthouse and the Circle is a historic courthouse located at The Circle in Georgetown, Sussex County, Delaware. It was designed by noted Philadelphia architect William Strickland (1788–1854) and built between 1837 and 1840. It is a two-story, brick structure with a brick tower over the entrance hall.
