The formula has a simple geometrical interpretation which makes it quite clear it is not linear. It only becomes linear when v/c -> 0 when it reduces to ordinary vector addition. But I think the article is based on a misunderstanding. This oplus formula does not represent relativistic addition of velocities because it omits the Thomas precession.
