The season deals with the war between the Marines and Whitebeard's pirates. Focusing on Luffy, Jimbei, and the escaped convicts from Impel Down as they infiltrate Marineford to save Ace. Eventually, Luffy must decide on whether to continue training or go back to Sabaody to see his friends once again.
Jimbei can communicate with fish, an ability more usually associated with merfolk, allowing him to enlist the help of whale sharks. [ch. 547–549] After growing up in a rough part of Fish-Man Island, Jimbei first joins the island's royal army and later the Sun Pirates; he becomes captain following the death of Fisher Tiger.
Upon hearing Hordy's plans, Jimbei reveals to the Straw Hats that Shirahoshi is the real threat behind Hordy's plan. Luffy and Shirahoshi prepare to go face Hordy and the New Fishman Pirates, but Jimbei stops the two. When Luffy tells Jimbei that he is going to save his crew no matter what, the fishman is forced to fight the Straw Hat captain.
Suddenly, the Beast Pirates' attacking ship is destroyed by a piercing bursts of water, and much to the Straw Hats' excitement (and to Law's and Kid's confoundment) the one who attacked the ship is Jimbei who has finally arrived in Wano to join the Straw Hat Pirates as their official helmsmen.
Big Mom takes Jimbei to her castle in order to discuss Jimbei's request, and as they walk, Jimbei recalls his past experience with Luffy. Meanwhile, the Sanji Retrieval Team sails into the Mixed Juice Current, where the sea is composed of several juices.
Avicii was found dead in the afternoon hours of April 20, 2018, according to a statement from his rep. His tragic death came two years after he announced his retirement from touring in March 2016.
Jimbei convinces Luffy that he cannot afford to waste time fighting Blackbeard when he needs to hurry and save Ace. Crocodile questions why Blackbeard would attack the prison when doing so would mean giving up his Warlord title, but Blackbeard reveals that it is part of a larger plan.
