In 1987, Reverend Terrence Healy, pastor of St. John Catholic Church near Hartland, was charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct based on accusations from a 15-year-old boy. Healy was convicted and sentenced to four and half years in prison. He was laicized in 1992 by the Vatican.
