Michael R. "Mike" Levy (born May 17, 1946) is the founder of Texas Monthly magazine, [1] [2] and was publisher until retirement in August 2008. A native of Dallas, Levy's father was a plumber. Levy once drove a taxi, and also worked as a jailer at the Dallas County Jail. [ 3 ]

Texas Monthly Talks was a thirty-minute interview show on public television networks across the state of Texas hosted by Evan Smith, then Editor Emeritus of Texas Monthly magazine. Produced by Dateline NBC veteran Lynn Boswell , the show addressed contemporary issues in Texas politics, business and culture.
Smith joined the staff of Texas Monthly as a senior editor in January 1992. [7] In February 1993, he was promoted to deputy editor, and in July 2000, he was made editor. [8] In May 2002, he added the title of executive vice president. He announced his intention to resign on July 17, 2009, and stepped down on August 21, 2009. [9] [10] [11]
