Highway 99A was decommissioned by the province in 2006 and the city of Surrey renamed "King George Highway" to "King George Boulevard" in 2009, [2] although, as of July 2021, the Ministry of Transportation keeps two minor segments of the former route maintained in its inventory.

With the completion of the new Highways 1 and 99, the Fraser Highway and King George Boulevard became major arteries. In the early 1990s, Surrey saw the return of rail transit with the SkyTrain Expo Line expansion into Surrey. The four stations added were Scott Road, Gateway, Surrey Central and King George.

Highway 10 is a minor east-west route through the southern portion of Greater Vancouver. [2] Highway 10 is used mainly as a local access route in North Delta, Surrey and Langley, its former connector role between South Delta and Highway 1 having been taken over by the Highway 17 (South Fraser Perimeter Road).
