Nipomo (/ n ə ˈ p oʊ m oʊ /; Chumash: Nipumuʔ) [4] is an unincorporated town in San Luis Obispo County, California, United States.The population was 16,714 for the 2010 census [5] and grew to 18,176 for the 2020 census. [6]
The oldest recorded residence in San Luis Obispo County is the Dana Adobe in Nipomo which was originally built on a Mexican land grant of nearly 38,000 acres (59 sq mi) which was presented in 1837 to William Goodwin Dana who relocated from Boston, Massachusetts and named the land Rancho Nipomo.
