Only twelve of the twenty-six public campgrounds from 1924 are on the 1937 list. Of the forty-nine areas on the 1937 list, twenty-eight are state parks as of 2012, while nine are former state parks, and twelve are in state forests (eight of these still retain their names as state forest picnic, natural or wild areas).
Keystone State Park is open to camping from the first Friday in April to the third Sunday of October. [5] There are two campgrounds. Lakeside Campground is on the shores of Keystone Lake. It has 40 campsites for tents or campers. Hillside Campground is in a more remote part of the park. It has 60 campsites, also for tents or campers.
Hills Creek Lake, a 137-acre (55 ha) man-made lake, is the focal point of the park. It is open for year-round recreation. Hills Creek State Park is in the Allegheny Plateau region of Pennsylvania, just north of U.S. Route 6 near the boroughs of Wellsboro and Mansfield.
