Constituted 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army as the 17th Field Artillery; Organized 6 June 1917 at Camp Robinson, Wisconsin. Assigned 21 September 1917 to the 2d Division. Relieved 18 December 1920 from assignment to the 2d Division. Assigned 22 July 1929 to the 1st Division.
