Harry F. Hardy, who arrived in the general area in 1909, drove the Chu Chua–Vavenby stage 1911–1913, which sometimes extended as far as Wire Cache. [8] W.C. (Charlie) Fowler, who opened the first store, [9] was the inaugural postmaster 1913–1938. [10]
Kamloops Centre is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada. Created under the 2021 British Columbia electoral redistribution, the riding will first be contested in the 2024 British Columbia general election. [1] It was created out of parts of Kamloops-South Thompson and Kamloops-North Thompson.
In May 1973, the municipality of Rayleigh was added to the city of Kamloops. A former post office here was named Rayleigh Mount. [2] This post office was named by the first postmaster W A Belcham after his home town in England. He, his wife Elizabeth, and son W A K Belcham operated the post office until the 1940s when they moved to Little Fort.
