Rajasthan has over 50 private, state and central government Universities which makes it one of the leading states in Indian higher education system. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council [1] [2] is leading system of quality system for higher educational institutions established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development under University Grants Commission (India). [3]
NAAC was established in 1994 in response to recommendations of National Policy in Education (1986). This policy was to "address the issues of deterioration in quality of education", and the Programme of Action (POA-1992) laid out strategic plans for the policies including the establishment of an independent national accreditation body.
The University of Gorakhpur is a teaching and residential-cum-affiliating University. It has entered the league of top five state universities of the country by achieving NAAC Grade A++ rank. It has become the first university of the state to get a 3.78 score.
