In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. The New International Version translates the passage as: The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."
The New Testament does contain the rudiments of an argument which provides a basis for religious images or icons. In the Gospel of John, Jesus stated that because his disciples had seen him, they had seen God the Father (Gospel of John 14:7-9 [20]).
In the King James Version of the Bible, the text reads: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Jesus (on the left) is being identified by John the Baptist as the "Lamb of God who takes away of the sins of the world", in John 1:29. [1] 17th century depiction by Vannini. Tissot, James, The calling of Peter and Andrew. The calling of the disciples is a key episode in the life of Jesus in the New Testament.
Only two of John's disciples follow Christ. One of those was Andrew, as we see in verse 40. The other is not known, although St. John Chrysostom says it was the author St. John. Euthymius notes that they followed Jesus so that they might know Him more fully and perhaps become his disciples rather than John's. [1]
In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? The Lord gives goodness to the people, and so the passage teaches to look to the lives of birds as an example for life and ...
