The township is along the northern edge of Montcalm County, bordered to the north by Mecosta County and at the town's northeast corner by Isabella County.The center of the township at Six Lakes is 12 miles (19 km) north of Stanton, the county seat, and 22 miles (35 km) north-northeast of Greenville.
Part of the village of Sheridan is in the southwest corner of the township. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.3 square miles (91 km 2), of which 34.7 square miles (90 km 2) are land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km 2), or 1.94%, are water. [1] The township is home to at least 11 named natural lakes. [7]

The village of Edmore is in the south-central part of the township. State highway M-46 crosses the township, passing through Edmore and leading east to St. Louis and west to Lakeview. M-66 runs along the western border of the township south of M-46, leading south 8 miles (13 km) to Stanton, the Montcalm county seat.
