The McKinley Marina is the only public marina in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Lake Michigan. [1] Run by Milwaukee County, the facility is just north of Veteran's Park, at the north end of the Milwaukee harbor breakwater. The marina is open from May 1 to October 31. McKinley Marina has 655 slips [1] with floating docks for rental.

A system of seventeen locks connects Lake Winnebago to Lake Michigan at Green Bay, an elevation drop of about 150 feet (45 m). This lock system is located along the lower Fox River and starts at the northwest corner of Lake Winnebago in the city of Menasha and ends at the mouth of Green Bay.
Lake Michigan (/ ˈ m ɪ ʃ ɪ ɡ ən / ⓘ MISH-ig-ən) is one of the five Great Lakes of North America.It is the second-largest of the Great Lakes by volume [5] (1,180 cu mi; 4,900 km 3) and depth (923 ft; 281 m) after Lake Superior and the third-largest by surface area (22,405 sq mi; 58,030 km 2), after Lake Superior and Lake Huron.
It is separated from the rest of the lake by the Door Peninsula in Wisconsin, the Garden Peninsula in Michigan, and the chain of islands between them, all formed by the Niagara Escarpment. Green Bay is some 120 miles (193 km) long, with a width ranging from about 10 to 20 miles (16 to 32 km); it is 1,626 square miles (4,210 km 2) in area. [2]
The highest elevation on the island is approximately 55' above the lakeshore. Approximately 1/8 (12.3%) of the island's area is taken up by shallow 348.73-acre (1.4113 km 2) Mackaysee Lake, in the northeastern part of the island. There rests a smaller lake to the west of Mackaysee Lake called Krause Lake or Mud Lake. [11]

The Potawatomi Islands is the most common historic name given to the string of islands that delineate the transition from Green Bay to Lake Michigan, one of the Great Lakes. The archipelago is also termed the "Grand Traverse Islands". The largest of the islands is Washington Island, in Door County, Wisconsin. [1]
