Leeper is a census-designated place (CDP) [3] located in Farmington Township, Clarion County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The community is located at the intersections of Pennsylvania Routes 66 and 36 in northern Clarion County.
American Stores Company was an American public corporation and a holding company which ran chains of supermarkets and drugstores in the United States from 1917 through 1998. The company was incorporated in 1917 when The Acme Tea Company merged with four small Philadelphia-area grocery stores (Childs, George Dunlap, Bell Company, and A House That Quality Built) to form American Stores.
In 1964, the company launched a chain of discount supermarkets called Dale's, and three years later, opened the first in a chain of Consumers Warehouse Markets; most, if not all, of Dale's and CWM stores were rebrandings of existing Penn Fruit stores. By 1971, the company had nearly 80 stores and sales of $370 million (~$2.13 billion in 2023).
Tylersburg is located along Pennsylvania Route 36, Crown and Vowinckel are on Pennsylvania Route 66, and Leeper is at the intersection of the two highways, west of the center of the township. Cook Forest State Park is in the eastern part of the township in the valley of Toms Run, a tributary of the Clarion River.
