Orcinol has been detected in the "toxic glue" of the ant species Camponotus saundersi. It is a colorless solid. It is related to resorcinol, 1,3-C 6 H 4 (OH) 2.

[1] Bial was born on 10 December 1869 in Breslau, the son of Max Bial. He was an assistant at the Kaiserin-Augusta-Hospital in Berlin. Bial died on 26 May 1908 in Monaco. [citation needed]
