Muslim Town is divided into two major parts Old Muslim Town and New Muslim Town. Old Muslim Town is much less developed and is mainly made up of small 150 sq.ft houses, on the other hand New Muslim Town consists mainly of larger houses ranging between 800 and 2000 sq.ft. Old Muslim Town has one of the highest number of hostels per square meter in Lahore.
Under the 2001 revision of Pakistan's administrative structure [3] Lahore was tagged as a City District, and divided into nine towns. [4] Each town in turn consists of a group of Union Councils. All in all 152 Union Councils existed in the City District of Lahore, including the Cantonment area.
The town is named after the Shalimar Gardens, built by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1640. [4] The Mela Chiraghan festival used to take place at Shalimar Gardens, until President Ayub Khan ordered against it in 1958. Shalimar was officially declared a township in 1962 and became an administrative town (tehsil) of Lahore City District in 2001.

Lahore was made an important establishment of the Mamluk dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate following the assassination of Muhammad of Ghor in 1206. Under the reign of Mamluk sultan Qutb ud-Din Aibak, Lahore attracted poets and scholars from medieval Muslim World. Lahore at this time had more poets writing in Persian than any other city.
Muslim Town Flyover (Urdu: مسلم ٹاؤن) is a flyover and interchange between Ferozepur Road, Wahdat Road along Canal Bank Road in Lahore, Pakistan. Muslim Town Flyover is the longest flyover of Pakistan with a length of about 2.6 km (1.6 mi).
Islamnagar (اسلام نگر) is a neighbourhood located within Lahore Cantonment (UC 152) [1] [2] [3] of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Although part of Lahore City District, Islamnagar [4] is governed directly by the Lahore Cantonment Board.
