A pen is a handheld device used to apply ink to a surface, usually paper, for writing or drawing. [1] Additional types of specialized pens are used in specific types of applications and environments such as in artwork, electronics, digital scanning and spaceflight, and computing.
Hero fountain pens were very popular in India from the 1970s to 1990s. Popular models included the Hero 329, Hero 221 Hero 233 and the higher-end Hero 100. These pens used an aerometric ink filling system, though modern variants of the Hero 100 use a standard international cartridge-converter.
Chelpark is one of the oldest manufacturers of fountain pen ink in the country. [4] "Chelpark" is a portmanteau of "Chellaram" and "Parker". [5] Originally a subsidiary of the Parker Pen Company in India, the company was renamed 'Chelpark', after the Bangalore-based Chellaram family took over operations. [6]
It was released in 1941 as "51" ink, along with the Parker 51 pen. Parker was careful to print prominent warnings on caps, labels, and boxes that the ink could only be used in the "51." The formulation in the ink would react with other manufacturing materials (such as celluloid) of the period leading to irreparable damage to other fountain pens.
The Waterman Pen Company is a major manufacturing company of luxury fountain pens and inks, based in Paris, France. The firm was established in 1884 in New York City by Lewis Waterman , [ 1 ] being one of the few remaining first-generation fountain pen companies, as "Waterman S.A."
The marker is a felt-tipped pen with quick–drying water–based ink. [5] In 1979, Paper Mate introduced the Eraser Mate or Erasermate brand. [6] In the 1980s, Paper Mate invented the Replay 2000 pen, with erasable ink and a rubber at one end. In 2010, Paper Mate introduced "environmentally friendly" biodegradable pens, pencils and erasers. [7]
