Brooklyn College was founded in 1930. On May 17, 1853, a group of Brooklyn businessmen wrote a charter to establish a school for young men. [citation needed] In 1998, Baruch College's business school was renamed the Zicklin School of Business, in recognition of an $18 million donation by Lawrence and Carol Zicklin.
