The G05 BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by German automaker BMW. It is the fourth and current generation of the BMW X5. It was launched in 2018 as the successor to the F15 X5. [11] Sales of the X5 started in November 2018. [12] The X5 M and X5 M Competition (F95) performance models were revealed on 1 October 2019. [13]
The BMW X5 M (F85) is a mid-size luxury SUV that is based on the BMW X5 (F15) which has been built by BMW since 2014. Unlike the BMW X5 M50d the X5 M is a full BMW M series car that has the M Powered engine. In comparison, the M50d is classified as an "M Performance Car" which means it isn't a full M car unlike the BMW M3 or the BMW M5.
The 2020 X5 sDrive was powered by BMW's inline-6 petrol B58 engine (the sDrive40i). Another 2020 model year addition was the xDrive45e PHEV . It also has the firm's B58 engine, mated with an 82 kW (110 hp) electric motor.
The S63 is the BMW M version of the N63, which debuted in the BMW X6 M and was used in the BMW M5 models from 2011 to 2023. The S63 uses two twin-scroll turbochargers plus a pulse tuned, cross-engine exhaust manifold [ 8 ] to keep constant exhaust pulses flowing to the turbos at every 180 degree rotation.
BMW says the 2024 X5 M Competition will start at $123,295, including a $995 destination charge. The 2024 X6 M Competition is a bit more expensive, with a starting price of $128,195.
