Grey parrots are thought to be excellent talkers, but not all grey parrots want to talk, though they have the capability to do so. Noise level, talking ability, cuddliness with people, and care needs can sometimes depend on how the bird is cared for and the attention he/she regularly receives.
The kea is a large parrot measuring 46 to 50 cm (18 to 20 in) in total length, with some specimens possibly reaching 55 cm (22 in). [ 19 ] [ 20 ] [ 21 ] Adult kea weigh between 750 and 1,000 g (1.65 and 2.20 lb), with males averaging 956 g (2.108 lb) and females averaging 779 g (1.717 lb).
Scarlet macaws are monogamous birds, with individuals remaining with one partner throughout their lives. The hen lays two or three white eggs in a large tree cavity. [ 18 ] The female incubates the eggs for about five weeks, and the chicks fledge from the nest about 90 days after hatching [ 19 ] and leave their parents about a year later.
Chickens, turkeys, ducks [8] and geese [9] possess a crop, as do parrots. [10] Pigeons also have crops; one domestic breed type is even bred to exaggerate the typical crop-inflating behavior so that the crop is inflated like a balloon. Some extinct birds like Enantiornithes did not have crops. [11]
