Island Packet Yachts is an American builder of blue-water cruising sailing and motor yachts, based out of Largo, Florida.The incorporated name for the company is Traditional Watercraft, Inc. Production facilities are located on five acres of ground with 52,000 square feet (4,800 m 2) of covered manufacturing space in central Pinellas County.
The boat's design was considered revolutionary at that time by bringing aspects of racing design into open ocean cruising yachts which up to then meant heavy and slow traditional boats. [2] The Valiant 40 is credited with birthing the category of the "performance cruiser". [ 3 ]
In 2004 Carver started the Marquis Yachts line, which began with the 59 and 65 Motor Yachts. Over 100 of the 65 Motor Yachts were built from 2005 to 2008 in Pulaski, Wisconsin. Carver was acquired by Marquis-Larson boat group. Carver Yachts permanently closed July 30, 2021. [5] 2
In the mid 1980s Hans Christian Yachts commissioned the designing of a new series of boats based on a more modern hull design with the goal of the "ultimate cruising sailboat." The end result was the Christina series with the 52 and 48 models designed by Doug Peterson [ 1 ] and Scott Sprague designing 40 and 43 [ 2 ] versions.
Hunter Marine was an American boat builder, now known as Marlow-Hunter, LLC, owned by David E. Marlow. The company did produce the Mainship powerboat brand. Marlow also owns and manufactures the Marlow Yachts brand consisting of long range power cruisers in the 37 to 110 foot range. The company was based in Alachua, Florida, and is now closed.
They make traditional ketch rigged motorsailers and the pilothouse sailing yachts. They were based in Finland, and was originally known as Siltala Yachts, but the name was changed in 2005 to Nauticat which was the name of their main yacht range. [1] They have so far manufactured over 2500 yachts ranging in size from 33 to 51 feet.
