Hill Middle School was reopened with 6th and 7th grade students at the start of the 1991-92 school year due to enrollment growth in the school district. Michael Watenpaugh was the principal who reopened the school. Hill Middle School was designated as a California Distinguished School in 1993.
The original plan was to locate the school on the grounds of Tustin High School at an initial cost of $48,072, which the district expected to be refunded to them by the state. [2] It was initially housed in a single portable building, but by 1968 had expanded to two portables.

At the Incarnate Word High School San Antonio, Texas classes run on a modular schedule. Each day is broken down into 17 time-periods called "mods."
