Crystal Lake is an unincorporated community in Anderson County, located in the U.S. state of Texas. [1] According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 20 in 2000. It is located within the Palestine, Texas micropolitan area.
On November 15, 2015, a deadly mass shooting took place at a campsite between Tennessee Colony and Palestine, where six people were killed by an intoxicated neighbor upset about losing his family's land. The shooter, William Hudson, was charged with capital murder and was sentenced to death by a Brazos County court on November 15, 2017. [5] [6]
